Ice Cream – From Bananas?!

April 11, 2022 by OurWrensNest Leave a Comment

Learn How To Make a Cool Treats Using Bananas!

A quick scoop of ice cream is such a tasty treat. Ever get that taste for ice cream and realize you have no ice cream in your freezer? AH! Don’t worry though there is a quick treat you can make to satisfy your craving and all you need is bananas. Yes, bananas! Banana ice cream is the perfect treat!

Banana ice cream is not a new recipe and there are many different ways to create your own banana ice cream! We are sharing our favorite way to make banana ice cream.

Supplies Needed

To get started all you need is 3-4 ripe bananas, 1-2 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream, a food processor (or blender), an ice cream maker (we are using our Dash personal ice cream maker), and your favorite ice cream toppings. Can’t go wrong with a little drizzle of Hershey’s chocolate syrup.

Let’s Go Bananas!

This recipe is so simple. Start by first pureeing your ripe bananas into a food processor or blender. You want to completely puree your bananas nice and smooth. Some like to use frozen banana pieces when making this recipe, but since we are using an ice cream maker, room temperature bananas work just fine.

After the bananas are pureed, add 1-2 tablespoons of whipping cream. You can also use some whole milk as well. This just gives your banana ice cream a more creamy “ice cream” like texture.

Pour your banana mixture into a bowl, and chill the mixture for about an hour depending on the model of your ice cream maker. This will help your ice cream maker when making your banana “ice cream”.

After you have chilled your mixture thoroughly, pour the pureed bananas into your ice cream maker and churn the banana ice cream for 15-20 minutes. Keep an eye on the mixture as it churns. You will know it’s done when the bananas now look like soft-serve ice cream.

To firm up the banana ice cream a bit, you can put the newly churned mixture into a freezer-safe bowl and freeze for 30 minutes to an hour (if you can wait that long!).

Time to Enjoy!

To serve, scoop out some banana ice cream with an ice cream scoop, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy! This recipe is so incredibly easy to make, and very versatile. Feel free to flavor your banana ice cream, and add your favorite mix-ins, the options are endless!
